Right now, Mansfield ISD is facing critical challenges that will shape the future of our schools. One of the most pressing issues is declining student enrollment. Fewer students mean less state funding, and as a result, we are now facing difficult conversations about the possibility of closing elementary schools. There is also growing discussion about making Mansfield ISD an open-enrollment district, meaning students from outside our community could attend our schools. These are major decisions that will directly impact students, teachers, and families across the district.

We must ask ourselves: Who do we trust to make these decisions? Who will prioritize the needs of our children, our educators, and our community as a whole? The answer lies in who we elect to our school board.

In Mansfield ISD, we don’t elect "Representatives" — we elect Trustees. There is a reason for this distinction. A Representative is someone who simply reflects the will of the voters, often acting on political or partisan interests. A Trustee, however, is someone who is entrusted with the well-being of our district. Trustees must make informed decisions, collaborate with others, and always put students first.

This is why we need to elect leaders who:

  • Believe in collaboration, not conflict.
  • Listen to our community and make decisions with transparency.
  • Have a vested interest in our children, whether as parents, educators, or residents who care deeply about the future of MISD.

The challenges facing Mansfield ISD aren’t theoretical. They are real and they are happening now. If we don’t elect the right Trustees, we risk school closures that could disrupt families and communities. We risk policies that do not reflect the values of Mansfield’s residents. We risk decisions being made by people who are more interested in pushing political agendas than in supporting teachers and students.

This election is not about choosing sides—it’s about choosing leadership that works. When you cast your ballot in Mansfield ISD elections, you are shaping the future of our schools. You are deciding whether we have leaders who will fight for the funding our district needs, who will listen to the voices of parents and educators, and who will ensure that every child in our community has access to a high-quality education.

This is why voting matters. This is why your voice matters.

We all want the same thing: strong schools, empowered teachers, and students who thrive. But achieving that requires leadership we can trust. So I ask you—when you go to the polls, vote for Trustees who will collaborate, listen, and put our children first.

Mansfield ISD belongs to all of us. Let’s take responsibility for its future. Let’s vote.
